Not expensive.

I'm always baffled when people insist something like this is too expensive when they have no concept how things are made.

It wasn't that long ago I paid $180 for a 60GB SSD, then had to drop another $180 because it wasn't big enough so $360 for 120GB.

Now we can get a faster, more reliable 250GB SSD for $100.

Prices have been steadily dropping so simply making up a number and saying "THIS is how expensive an SSD should be now" just seems silly to me.

Also not sure why I'd regret a PC purchase decision FIVE YEARS in the future.

Amen to that.

OT: No one else found it interesting the EVO is outperforming the Pro? (@ 2TB)

Then in 10 years after you buy your new 10TB SSD 5 years from now you're going to be saying, "Why did I drop my money on this?"

I agree. SSD's are more luxury than necessity. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this as PC's are my hobby. However maybe once I handle responsibilities first I'll be able to get something similar, yet cheaper.

But thats the same as waiting for the next big thing. I don't understand peoples mindset that state "why did i..." when they made a purchase (when sober at least) when it fit their purpose for the time. in 5 years when I purchase my 10TB SSD I'm going to say "well 256Gb 840 PRO, you had a good run. Into the general use PC you go!"

$1000 isn't bad for 2TB when Samsung ripped me $600+ for 1TB SSDs.

Hi Ramseyer: why not 'realistically' pit 2TB models from SanDisk, Samsung, Intel, Crucial and Mushkin? I use many products from those companies.

Last but not least, can we imagine the world around us without ARM chips? Unfortunately, very few people write about that architecture and its achievements. They deserve a lot more media credit.

My understanding surrounding ARM is they're very good at low power usage however their throughput is no where near most competitors. Even in the Seattle chip ARM was working with AMD @ 2.5 Ghz was mainly for low end server segments.

People who spend money on new technology are too busy enjoying it instead of worrying about what they spent 5 years ago.

That's what happens when you get what you want instead of only what you need.

I can never understand people commenting on how other people spend their money. It's like when my fiance can't figure out for the life of her why I spend so much money on technology. The same is true in reverse when she buys a new bag. Then we accept it because we understand that we enjoy it. So we continue to enjoy it. I wouldn't tell her she should spend money on a new gaming monitor, the same way she wouldn't tell me I should be buying new shoes.

TLDR; let people spend their money on what makes them happy. They're not spending yours.

Video Editing is one example of where one might use a 2TB SSD.

I'll admit that's not my use case but there is a demand for this product or frankly it wouldn't be made. I'm also not the target for expensive phones, jewellery or fake, vibrating buttocks but I understand that some people want these things and will pay a premium.

Whether something is "worth it" is always up to them.

*The ONLY time I'll say something isn't worth it is if the purchaser is misinformed about what he is buying such as the exact same or comparable product for cheaper elsewhere, but if somebody wants to pay $1 Million for a plastic banana signed by Madonna then maybe that's "worth it" to them?
