Samsung SSD Data Migration error. It says access violation at address 005B7178 in module 'Data migration. exe'. Read of address 00000003 Please help. This is the error message I am getting when I open Data Migration software of Samsung

Yes, Macrium works with a Samsung drive.
It works with any drive.

This sound like a fault in the software, not the cloning operation.
Reinstall the Data Migration tool, or use something else.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:

Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.

I use Aomei and I like it a lot. Many people use Macrium and I've been meaning to try it but Aomei works so well for me I don't really have a need to. Yes...the free version of Aomei works good....but you can't change the partition sizes with the free version.....but most of the time I don't need to.....although I did buy the paid version because there was a time I need to.

I got a Samsung 860 Evo purchased just a few days ago and using it for the first time. I have reinstalled Data Migration 2-3 times but still there is the same error. I have checked my current System drives for any errors, but there wasn't any. Both the drives are 1TB and with only 210GB of used space. I don't get why the Samsung Migration software is not working. Will Macrium software work fine with Samsung SSD?

Okay let me try with that once. But one thing, I tried once with Acronis software. It cloned the disk but when I booted with the drive, it shows BOOTMGR is missing.

Makes sure you do an actual clone and not just copy files.

To my surprise Samsung Data Migration is working. I actually disconnected all the portable drives and then it worked. Maybe there was some other issue as there were 6 more drives connected through USB.i hope I can boot from the Samsung SSD when the cloning gets done.

Samsung Data Migration worked like a charm. In just one hour everything is completed and now I am booting from my Samsung SSD and its very fast! Thanks for the help.
