The Samsung Arm based Orion will usher the future of computing. Just think about it, most computer users only browse the web, watch videos, and check email. With this new chip, all of a basic user’s processing power needs will be met. Just imagine on the commute to work you could use your phone to check your emails. Then, once at work the phone could be connected to an external monitor and keyboard. This setup could be used to do just about any basic work tasks such as: editing, emailing, accounting, programming, and retailing. When done with work, just undock, and it can become your mp3 player. Once you arrive at home you could re-dock the phone to a TV/monitor to watch movies, read and write emails, or even play a simple game such as Farmville, The Sims, or Doom. A smartphone with the Samsung Orion would have more power than a netbook, while maintaining a smaller footprint. With the Orion processor a new computing device will emerge; a device between a laptop and smartphone, or as I call it the ‘smartop’.
