Sandisk Extreme Pro 95/90 MB/s on a Cell Phone - Worth It ?

I am looking forward to replace my Existing Sandisk Ultra Class-10 Micro SD card with a Sandisk Extreme Pro which has far better write speeds. About 8x i believe . However, my Phone and PC are both USB 2.0 supported and as per facts, i can not go beyond 35 MB/s on USB 2.0, that too using a UHS Card Reader, probably. Still i am willing to upgrade Cause on this card connected via a Micro USB to USB cable, i hardly get an Average speed of 7 MB/s so even 30 MB/s would be a good upgrade for me. Is that worth it? How much speed do you think i may get on the Sandisk Extreme Pro connected via a USb Cable?

usb2? isnt that maxed out at around 35MB? you only go as fast as the slowest device ....

90MB card with a 35MB usb2 will go at 35MB
35MB card with a 90MB usb3 will go at 35MB
90MB card with a 90MB usb3 will go at 90MB.

the only reason you want a 90MB card in a phone is if its capable of uhd recording, or huge picture size (for faster saving). and possibly saving games to it, so they load faster.

Actually i'm using a Moto G4 Plus which has an Impressive 16 MP f/2 camera with Laser autofocus, and images captured from this phone could be as big as ~8 MB, however it takes about 2-3 seconds to capture a picture.

May be its because of its Midrange processor or the fact that i have set the default Camera storage location to the Micro SD Card. I'm not sure but i know even when the location was set to Phone Storage, it would take at least 1 second to Capture a pic.

So there may not be a noticeable difference in Speed when Capturing a photo with the Extreme Pro, but if the Data transfer speeds get better, i'd be happy. I'm expecting a Write speed of Minimum 20 MB/s when copying/ moving data From PC to phone via a Micro USB to USB Cable.

Real World Write Speeds
On Phone: 20-25 MB/s (Reliable)
On Card: 7-12 MB/s (Unreliable)

sandisk doesn´t state directly the write speed, only the max. read speed of 80MB/s is written. Some tests state that the card has just speeds with of ~10MB/s.

The reading speed (transfer from phone to PC) will not increase with a different SD card, "just" the capturing speed.

I bought a Samsung EVO PLUS (2017) myself after I got a crappy slow writing sandisk ultra

get a card with better write speeds, more than 30MB/s is usually not faster because of the integrated sd controller inside the phones or cameras.

Actually, there are two kinds of Sandisk Ultra Cards, "Red and White" and "Red and Black". Both being Class-10 but the latter has better Read and write speeds. Read speeds are way better, actually. 80 MB/s against 48 MB/s. I have used both and with the former i could not cross ~7 MB/s but with the latter i have seen Writes upto 13 MB/s. Not consistent though. Average is mostly <=10 MB/s. Samsung Evo plus is just a tad better in Write speeds

True that manufacturers only mention the Read speeds but from the class printed on them, one can always figure what the Write speed would be like. Class 10 U-3 for example claims a minimum write speed of 30 MB/s. Sandisk Extreme Pro is the perfect example. Although Sandisk claims writes upto 90 MB/s, but it can go as fast as 75 MB/s.

@helpstar
Yeah. I knew it.
The name Evo automatically made me think you were talking about some cheap Class-10 Card, and not U-1/U-3. lol. I mean, how can one compare a Sandisk Ultra to a Sandisk Pro +? They do not belong to the same class. Perhaps that's the Card you were referring to as there is no such thing Like Samsung Evo +.

Well. Looking at the details, it seems like the the Samsung Evo Plus 2017 is actually a cool Product. It claims writes upto 20 MB/s however i can't comment how fast it is in Real Life. Perhaps 15 MB/? I can't say but it must be certainly an upgrade over the Sandisk Ultra 128. I have that and it averages at around 10 MB/s. While transferring a small file, i have seen it go as fast as 20 MB/s but it's NOT reliable.

Ah okay. I got it. Well. I knew Samsung has a series of the Evo Plus micro SD cards but never really noticed the difference between plus and +. To be honest, I didn't know that Samsung has now launched the 2017 model for that card with the Name Plus, not +. This is a bit confusing. Thanks for letting me know. :)
