the wealth of info in your original post leads me to believe you mean that you are trying to add a disk to your SAN (Storage Area Network), well this is usually done with a NAS unit, heres an article

I see you left out the extra "s" in "Sans Disk"... The answer is that you need to add a disk drive to your system before you can install the OS.
