Why question only for AGP users? If anything you should ask everyone to try to get an unbiased opinion because some users might be too inclined to agree with you or disagree with you. Anyway, it really depends on two things to make this a worthwhile purchase, the first one is pricing, as long as it's hovering around $220-240 it's not that bad. Second one and more important is what type of system do you have? If you have a good S939 X2 4200+, 2GB of DDR400 ram, good mobo, but stuck with AGP 8x then in my opinion it IS worthwhile buying it.

To sum it up, depending on the pricing of the card itself and how good is your AGP system then it is worth buying, if you don't have good CPU/Memory or if the card starts soaring around the $270-300 arena then it isn't that good.

So you've got a P4 3 GHz?

That'll bottleneck a 3850 a bit, especially at lower resolutions.

In general I wouldn't pair that CPU with more than an X1950 PRO. Might be worth it in next-gen titles, but that cash would go a long way toward a new platform.

i was gonna get this card when it comes out, but with pci-e being so cheap i'm gonna piece me together a new rig and get a 8800gt 512mb and do it for around 650 bucks. and will recoup some cash from selling my agp gear (about 300 i'm sure) and i will have a good rig with furture proof mobo w/ 45nm support and 4gigs of ram.

all that for around 350 at the end of tha day is the best move for me ever at this point.

if i were you i would give this some thought IF ya know how to build systems. just salvage some parts (hard drive and PSU if it's a good strong one) to keep cost down.

I think you should just build a new one. You put down an excellent price point. Just be sure to get the e8400, which is pretty much the best dual-core processor you can get.

That board can only handle Pentium 4 CPUs, not worth upgrading to anything as you have one of the fastest P4's out there.

I'd get a new Core 2 Duo board & CPU if you want to go that route.

i have a sapphire 3870. I have been trying to get it RMA'd for 2 weeks. They won't even reply to my emails. I have tried every email and support ticket option they have.

personally i would upgrade my mobo and cpu, but if you have to go with AGP, just stay away from Sapphire.
