Sapphire R9 290(non-X) Vapor-X or ASUS DCII R9 290X?

Hello,

I want an R9 290/X for my next upgrade and I struggle to choose between the two non-reference cards.

290 Vapor-X:

They are priced similarly and I intend to overclock. I currently have a Litepower 600W and will be upgrading to Cooler Master V850 PSU for crossifre in the future.

Which of these two will perform better at stock and/or overclocked?

If you have the budget for it, sure, go for it.
If you`re tight on the money, you`ll still get plenty of horsepower out of the R9 290.
290 Vapor-X, the cooling is better. You can try overclocking but it will depend on your card. I wouldn't really want 850W with overclocking two R9 290 and the cpu. You probably want 1000W.

R9 290X isn't a huge difference from R9 290 probably 3-5fps. You can probably overclock the R9 290 to match the R9 290X.

If the price is simillar, go for the R9 290x.
I remember that at launch, the 290 (non-x) was quite a lot cheaper than the 290X, hence the R9 290 was the one to get.

However, if the X version is about the same price as the non-X, go for the X.
I would also recommend a 1000W PSU for X-fire, and make sure you have a well ventilated case that will allow you to play with OC`ing them, and not have too high temps.
 
Thanks for the answers. I actually intend to put the GPUs to STOCK CLOCKS if I am going to crossfire (~600W), if I am using a single GPU I will overclock it (~500W). 600W is not that bad I guess, I am using a FX-8350 which is ~200W so hopefully I get a ~50W headroom. Sorry for the confusion.

According to benchmarks though a 290 Vapor-X will almost match a 780Ti if overclocked. I am not sure if the Asus 290X DCII can do that?
