I use an IBM M1015 that's been flashed to IT mode so it's not in "Raid Card" mode any more and works pretty much like a standard sata card.
It is the same card as the LSI 9220 -8i which you may also find at affordable prices.

These can be found already flashed often in the $30-40 range. You can get the raid version of the card as well and just set the drive a

Don't forget to get a Sas cable.
Depends if you'd like the hdd to be permanently installed in your computer or if you're only intended to retrieve the data on it. If the latter, then just do a web search for "usb sas adapter". Otherwise, there should be PCIe adapters as well out there.

Unfortunately I haven't any concrete recommendations for any single adapters.
