SATA DOESNT DETECT HD

Have a new system operating system vista and just installed a back up drive via a docking station to sata .. the system doesnt see the drive.. tried harware search etc no luck. if i hook the docking station to usb bang no worries... any suggestions that the great minds of the world may have for me would be mostly appreciated

Do you mean the BIOS. or the OS doesn't see it?
If the BIOS is detecting it, have you set the drive up in Windows disk management?
If not, go control panel/computer management/administrative tools/disk management.
From there, the drive should be showing, but it will be grayed out...sort of.
You must partition, format and set the partition(s) to active, and assign a drive letter.
It won't show up anywhere as a usable drive until you do that.
