CAN you actually use SATA 3 Drives on SATA 6 Motherboard ?
OP, that would be SATA2 3Gbps and SATA3 6Gbps, not sata 3 and 4. Those are speeds, not version numbers.
And yes, like said before they are backwards compatible. Furthermore, mechanichal HDDs are not limited by SATA2 as they are too slow.
I believe you mean SATA2 (i.e. SATA-300) on SATA3 (i.e. SATA-600), and by this, then yes. Later revision of SATA is backward compatible with prior version. The 300/600 refer to their theoretical maximum bandwidth.
