Sata nexstar 3 harddrive not powering up

I have tried 2 different Sata drives with different cables and neither is powering up. Is there something I can do to get these drives to turn on! Thanks so much

If the drives do not have their own dedicated power supplies, they will need to draw power from the USB port. Some USB ports are not providing enough power to spin the drives. Try switching USB ports on your system until you find one that works.
