Plextor, for one, is now making a SATA optical drive.
If the SATA connectors on Asus motherboards are only for hard drives,
of what use is a SATA optical drive?

Has anyone had any experience trying to use one of these drives on an
Asus board?
Are there any Asus boards with specs that support drives other than
hard drives on SATA connectors?

Hi there

Just got a SATA Plextor DVD writer with Asus A8N board. It wouldnt work
until I plugged the sata into to one of the blue sata sockets and then all
is well.

Hope this helps!

It does! Good news! Assuming that your nForce board has two SATA
controllers, which one uses the blue sockets?
