Save file corrupted

Hello,
i got Pokemon leaf green on PC the other day from a friend and i opened it today and it said that the save file is corrupted. what do i do?

A couple of possibilities:

1) Your game is possibly broken
2) Your game catridge battery is dying out
3) There could be dirt on the game cartridge
4) The game was turned off while it was saving

try an earlier save if there not all in the same file ,is it your personal save or does your friend have a copy of the saved game or sorry to say,delete the old save an start over
