Hi,
I have two pretty old pcs that died a while back, but contain copies of novels that I was writing along with other less important files. I kept hold of the towers in storage with the intention of saving the data one day, but could never afford to take them to a pc repair shop (student wages). I've now been offered a nice new pc as a birthday present and I've been told there should be a way to get the data from the old pcs to the new one.
One of the dead pcs is a Dell inspiron 530S and the other is an even older spec (the tower says 48X max?). I believe both died from motherboard complications (the older one literally fried and the newer one has the continuous amber light of death).
Any advice on how to get the data from one/both of these corpses?
Edit: I should add, I've seen various How To guides for newer computers, but I'm not sure if these apply to computers as old as mine!
Thanks in advance.
