Please help!!!!!!
I have a Digitheater with decoder, a DVD-ROM player with SP/DIF output, and Sounblaster 5.1. I have connected my DVD-ROM to my sound card using both CD Audio and SP/DIF. I have connected my soundcard to the Videologic decoder using the SP/DIF out of the sound card to the decoder using a traditional 3.5 stereo jack to two phono's cable with the white phono connected to the digital phono socket on the decoder,(red not connected). By setting digital only output only on the sound card speaker settings I have managed to get sound. I cannot however achieve AC-3 sound with this setup, (the whole reason I paid lots of money for these components.) The decoder register PCM only when playing The Matrix on DVD. There is an AC-3 demo in the sound Blasters software, the decoder for the first time registers an AC-3 signal but.....no sound. Please, please, please, please, please, please, help.

Many Thanks,

You don't say which version of the 5.1 you have. If it is the player version (no front panel) then the yellow jack on the back does not work like a standard S/PDIF interface it is outputs Center Analogue, Subwoofer Analogue, S/PDIF Front, S/PDIF Rear, S/PDIF Cente/Sub. It's wierd and you need a strange 4-pole plug or something for it to work.

If you have the Platinum 5.1 Then try different combinations of speaker configuration in the speaker/mixer window. Make sure you have the right sources selected each time (it seems to store different mixer options for different speaker configs). There is also an option for Digital Output only - try it. Checkout SoundBlaster.com and look at some of the links for sites which should have stuff that will be helpful.
