Will the SB Live work properly if you install DirectX8 on a WinME machine? I know SB Live doesn't work that well to begin with, but has anyone tried it? If so, what were the results?
I need them to work together as is because I can't wait for Creative to release new drivers, I would be 90 years old by then.
I really want to play Mechwarrior 4 and it requires DirectX 8.

Thanks

Bubba, I plan to pick up SB Live DE 5.1 tomorrow and test it on the night. I am running DX8 (And have not had any problems yet, though I have only tested Balder's Gate2). I don't see why it would not work perfectly. Later DX versions should include all previous features. I will attempt to put in a post 2 days from now to let you know how I go. I am only testing it to see if it will function on the new Athlon setup, as my MX300 causes crashes.

Athlon 1.1Ghz, A7V, Geforce 32MB DDR, SoundBlaster DE 5.1, DirectX8. All running nicely, though I am still on W98.
Woops, I forgot to put my DRAM back to 133Mhz. Probably won't crash now that I have replaced the sound card.

On one of my computers, I am using an SBLive!, DX8, and WinME with no problems.

SB Live! (with Creative Win2k drivers), DX8, Win 2000. The perfect combination for me.
