Northwestrepair received a Zotac RTX 5090 from a customer featuring a missing GPU core and memory chips. The new card represents a new scam where criminals steal RTX 5090 GPU cores and memory modules, leaving customers with a dead graphics card.

Stories like this are why I, given an opportunity, would rather buy my stuff from a physical retail store, or a known and trusted retail outlet if I have to buy online. Remember, when you buy through Amazon or eBay, you're rarely buying from the company itself, you're buying through a third party who is advertising their products on that site, so it's not "do I trust Amazon" but "do I trust this this party". Yes, you can get better deals, but it's also easier to scam people that way.
