Scandisk

I have heard a number of people in the past who have mentioned how poor MS's Scandisk is at fixing errors and isolating bad sectors. Does anyone have a suggestion about what to use instead? What are the problems with Scandisk itself?

Thanks in advance for any help.

ScanDisk (MSDos ver) killed one of my HDDs. I was scanning when I think my bios power saver kicked in............... The system froze. And when I restarted the drive was DEAD!!!!!!!!!

That's because of your BIOS nt Scandisk.
Anyway I scanned a lot of times with Scandisk and it seems to fix all problems for me nd my hdd has been running for years now without problems. It is not the best, but good enough, at least to me.

Go out and buy Norton Utilities 2001. It has Speed Disk and Disk Doctor + loads of other utilities. Speed disk is much faster at defragmenting than Scandisk
