Hi

I've just purchased a HP 5500c in the hope of scanner lots of old
photos. So far I've managed about 8. The APF seems a real pain, but i
could probually cope with that if the scanner did not keep locking up
in the middle of a scan. When it does I cannot cancel via PC or
buttons on the scanner. The only way to stop it is to pull the power
lead out.

Any ideas my driver is up to date and i've disconnected my USB
printer. Has anyone had any successs with this as at present I am very
disappointed.

I'm running Windows XP home, AMD 2500 & 512 RAM.

TIA

John

Bad luck! You may get away with just pulling the lead out of the HP
scanner. My 5300C does this lock up from time to time on a Pentium 4 XP
Pro SP1 too. And installing the latest and greatest HP drivers for it
practically wrecked the OS by permanently disabling the install hardware
wizard.

It seems XP and HP scanners do not sit well together 🙁
