Scanning objects

My old scanner has recently died (Black Widow 9636) which was superb for
scanning objects such as action figures.

Can anyone suggest a good alternative scanner which can do the same thing
and that is compatible with XP Pro (the 9636 wasn't!).

Just about any of todays scanners that have a CCD (Charged-Coupled Device)
sensor will do a good job with objects.

CIS (Contact Image Sensor) sensors have very little depth of field.

My Canon D1250 does coins rather well and even did a passable job on a
commemorative mug. Of course, I did one view and then turned the mug
about 90 degrees for the rest. I guess, if it had been necessary I
could have used 4 views.
