Ok, all of the talk about Athlon burning up real fast has got me scared. So I ask this question. If I put a house fan pointing into the tower, with the cover off, will it save my CPU should the fan not turn on or be installed wrong? Just a thought, you guys have made me a worry wart!!!!!!

Someday I will stop asking all the questions!

Don't be worried about turning it on
as long as the heatsink is on nice and firm and the fan is plugged in
it only goes in 1 way.. u should be fine..
If u are worried..
Take the side panels off and....
His power and see if the fan is turning if not turn the pc off from the back switch on the back of the power supply

You will be ok thou
no worries

well , booky , perfect solution, few tools required though.
cordless drill
3/8 " drill bit
a little silicon , exterior type
1st. drill 6-8 holes 3/8" diameter into the case.
2nd.run appropriate cables through drilled holes.
3rd. apply silicon around the cables at point of entry.
4th.plug all power source in.
5th. set internal housing to approx. 40 degrees ferinhight
6th.close housing door.
7th.away you go.

P.S. external housing consist's of one used bar fridge.
P.P.S. to avoid all above procedure's invest in a INTEL P4

best of luck

Well, you could put the money you saved by buying the Athlon over the P4 into the Bar cooler, and you would get better performance. Seriously though, as long as the heatsink is directly over the CPU and the HS is level with respect to the MoBo, you will be fine. Just get a good HSF.

What's a signature? Oh, those words that show up after all my comments? I don't need one of those!

doesn't matter! Amd cpu will fry if the hs is incorrectly installed, even if the hsf is mothernature herself.

"Amd cpu...Gone in 2 secs flat, it truly is a fast chip!"
