They forgot to mention the country that obtains this knowledge/technology will cause world war 3 and eventually ends up with the earth goes bye bye.

Then after the virus has been tested shall we upload it to everyone containing nano tech and address the United Nations with my terms for the worlds surrender, or else.......

They said in the year 2000 cars would fly..and robots would be in every household... thanks but no thanks on accepting this as a fact...

try to make a chimp talk/act/think like a human first.. before u go to bigger words.... i guess ur old dying sponsers like hearing this so the funding wont stop.

Flying cars = feasible no, possible yes.

Robot-
1. A mechanical device that sometimes resembles a human and is capable of performing a variety of often complex human tasks on command or by being programmed in advance.

2. A machine or device that operates automatically or by remote control.

Many things can be considered robots if you look past the IRobot types. Computers, TV's, phones etc...

Someone has a live imagination. The complexities involved are far to big to think that in 25 years we'll have unlocked them. I doubt nano tech has anything to do with our bodies within 15 years. 40 years ago, we thought we'd have conquered cancer by now and look at us.

Ray Kurzweil said the same EXACT thing twenty years ago (that in twenty years, death would be exiled). I love his optimism, but he has detached himself from reality I am afraid.

We cant even cure hairloss, and this prick thinks we can be immortal?

[citation][nom]intelliclint[/nom]The science is there, but the social engineering takes a lot longer to over come. There are still those on this planet that fear artificial body replacements, like heart valves. My personal favorite is... Stop trying to play God. I would if I actually thought God existed.[/citation]
I'm not playing God! I'm playing Mother Nature and she is a crazy whacked out scientist just like me :)

simple fix to immortality population problem..., anyone who chooses immortality can no longer reproduce. Reproduction will only be allowed via a lottery system for immortals.

[citation][nom]bungee91[/nom]Religion will f*** this up from ever becoming a reality!..Think back to the first heart transplant, stem cells, etc..."Your playing god"....LOL.. Stupid religious fanatics can go suck it![/citation]

Way to come on here and start insulting people. Maybe you should try respecting others' beliefs instead of trying to start an argument where none existed in the first place.

He could have phrased it better, but he is right, Religious fanatics form all sides will oppose, take this to court, try and get this type of tech killed off cause it does not fit with their view of the world. It's happened before and will happen again.

Ha! I remember reading in an 1980's edition of Popular Mechanics, and they were saying that by the year 2000 no one would catch the common cold anymore (or any disease), and they'd have cured it all. So much for that prediction.

I was thinking the Environmentalists would fight this one. Other religions might see this as ushering in a Messianic age. One of the big criticisms of this guy seems to be that he is a big New Age spirituality fan, and these statements might stem more from his religious views (and goals to sell books) than from any scientific understanding.

[citation][nom]Jayb10[/nom]Cool! I can finally live long enough to see Duke Nukem get released in 3041![/citation]
hahah ROFL...
but really, its is possible after we have fixed so many problems like poverty and ignorant people (lack of education), ahahah really

I believe nanotechnology will be so powerful that it will enable us to all that has been written in the article. But as we know, every machine we make is flawed too. How can we guarantee that those machines wouldn't malfunction and destroy everything in a chain reaction? Can we make nanovirus machines? Can we control them? Seeing where I'm getting to?
