Screen not fitting TV frame when connected via HDMI

As stated above, when i connect my laptop to my tv or any tv for that matter, the screen is extending beyond the frame and all the content cannot be seen. this is worse when I try to project it onto the tv only things just gets so much worse. i tried going to the display drivers and changing the resolution but nothing works. I am also running a nvidia graphics card.

Hard for me to currently try on my pc since I am at work, but instead of using the resolution. Go to your Nvidia Control panel and there are many options on where you can manually set the edges for the screen. That way you can make it fit exactly the way you want to. Right Click on your desktop and look for Nvidia Control Panel

also be sure to check your TV itself, some of them have a "PC" mode that will fix an over/under sized display problem.

yea but where on the nvidia control panel exactly? I can only see 3 tabs under 3d settings

It should be under the resolutions or screen setting. Sorry I am currently on a pc that doesn't have the nvidia control panel so I am not exactly sure which tab.

Also look if TV has an "Aspect" option that allows you to fit by zoom, full, stretch, etc.

In nvidia control panel click the "Display" tab and it should expand with the opyion to change resolution and another tab for adjust size and position!
