SD card slot typical in desktops or no?

So...it’s not that it’s necessary, but I’m wondering if most mobos allow sd card use or not? Or does that apply to the case?

SD card readers are connected to a USB port on the motherboard.

You can buy a 3.5 / 5.25 card reader, and connect it to a USB header.

I've got a card reader on here, but it's external. Since the case doesnt have any front bays

I have an old SD card reader on my computer that I took out of an old build I had. But it only reads SD cards (or microSD if using an adapter) up to 2GB, so not very useful. I bought a USB micro/SD card reader at MicroCenter for less than $5. It also reads some other type of cards, which I don't have.

It is called the ProHT by Inland.

Ok, I have only one bay, and it’s only one bay I really “need”. Even though a dvd drive may be a bit out of date, is is better than what would be a dedicated sd card drive. And to Paul NZ, ok it has an sd reader, but that’s a lot of unnecessary usb slots. I have 4 on top of my case.

Depends if you NEED a dvd. And, if you use it a lot.

Since I dont have any bays I dont have one. Only thing I use is flash drives. Or I can copy files across the home network.

If you want to keep the dvd then buy an external card reader

I’ll end it here. Case closed. I understand there are internal and external sd card readers, but just how my setup and needs are laid out, I’m going external
