Hi guys, I was hoping that somebody somehwere could help m,e with this issue.

My HDD had failed on me yesterday, no clicking sound just vanished, two fo them and so I purchased a Seagate 4tb SSHD as the drives were 4 years old and probably at the end of their life as they had been shipped out from the UK to Canada.

Anyway, I cannot seem to get this SSHD working. After trawling through the net I have tried changing BIOS to IDE mode from ACHI, trying both Marvell and Intel Sata 3gb/6gb ports, just not sure what to do next.

I've tried the cables in the optical drives and they get picked up straight away. I plugged the SSHD into a drive enclosure I have and it was recognised there, I just couldn't do anything with it.

I have ran driver updater and got all the latest chipset and sata drivers, and now it sees it in the Disk Management in windows, but still gives me an 'Incorrect Function' error when trying to initialize.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Solution
4 TB drives have a bit of limited support on anything but the newest motherboards. Read the manual to your system and see what is the max size drive it will work with.
I am afraid that your SSHD might be damaged/corrupted. I recommend you to test the drive downloading the manufacturer's diagnostic tool. You can find it on their website, make sure you run both the short and the long test on it, so that you'd be able to determine the health and SMART status.

Get it replaced!!!
