Hi!
So my new hard drive, a Seagate Barracuda 4tb, has been making a noise I am not familiar with.
I have looked around online, and not found a similar sounding one.
Was wondering if it was the "Click of death", but I don't think it is.

It only happens once in while, maybe 4-5 max in a minute while active.
The HDD itself works fine, though according to Userbenchmark it is a poor drive

Crystaldiskinfo:

This is the sound, on Onedrive.

Slightly annoying at times, but that is heightened by my uncertainty.
Anyone know what the sound is specifically, and if I need to send it back?

It's not the click of death, but remember, a drive can fail at any time.

The Seagate Barracuda 4TB ST4000LM024 has a limited warranty of 2 years and the Recording Technology is SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording).

I no longer buy SMR drives, preferring the superior performance of good old-fashioned CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) also known as PMR.

My most recent purchase is a Seagate Skyhawk 6TB for the equivalent of $77. It comes with a 3 year limited warranty and this includes 3 years Rescue Data Recovery Services coverage, which is not available on the Barracuda range.

Drive Testing

I run a full surface read scan on all hard disks using Hard Disk Sentinel Pro, before commiting any data to them.

Hard disk sentinel shows the drive to be "PERFECT", so it seems to be fine. All the software I've tried to deduce the issue with shows the drive to have no problems. But the noise is persistent. Seems I just have to live with it. Thanks.
