I'm looking for a little bit of assistance.

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha
Current Storage: 2 x SATA HDD (Storage), 1 x Samsung 970 EVO m.2 NVME SSD - Motherboard M.2 slot, OS install

I've been given a second m.2 SSD by a friend, SK Hynix N210A BB (256GB), and have purchased a PCIe m.2 adapter to use it with, when I initially booted up with the adapter and new SSD in, the BIOS (up-to-date) was only seeing the two SATA HDDs, as such, I was unable to boot to see if Windows would at least let me format the new SSD. Long and short, I can't seem to get the new SSD to be recognised by the BIOS, and it seems to be interfering with the BIOS recognising the current one when present. I've since booted fine without the new SSD in, so no problems with the current SSD.

Any thoughts on the matter?

Solution
Initially Slot 4, PCIe x4. Now, slot 2 PCIe x8.

Having played around some more, it was a bit of a stupid mistake, but all working now.

PCIe adapter wasn't compatible with m.2 SATA, which, unbeknown to me, the new SSD is, so switched the 970 EVO to the PCIe adapter, and the SK Hynix to the motherboard slot and all working now :)
