I own both games and I say COD4 is much more fun than Crysis. COD4 is somewhat like COD2 only with a much better storyline and better looking graphics. The people are bigger than they were in COD2 making it feel much more realistic when you're standing up close. The story in COD4 makes you feel like you are part of a really good movie with some control on how it will end. In Crysis, the visuals are outstanding and Crysis wins in that department, but overall COD4 is just more fun of a game to play because it has a lot more creative, intense and realistic action. For many still textures I say they did a hell of a job making it look realistic. I'd rather have still grass and render 360 degrees above 80fps at all times no matter where you go than have swaying grass and trees with major FPS drops all over. I actually shot one of my men by accident and felt bad for him. It really puts you in their shoes! almost! can't say it actually does. Another thing I love about COD4 is the ai enemies fall in so many unique forms unlike crysis' ai enemies. In crysis they always fall the same way but in COD4, sometimes the ai doesn't die and only gets wounded and starts shooting you laying on the ground. The thing I hate most about Crysis is the constant auto saving. It seems like it saves every 5-35 seconds and it ruins the action. COD4 saves a lot too but it doesn't effect your game at all like Crysis does with those 1 second pauses one after another. COD4 definitly is #1 in my book.

Do yourselves a favor and play both games - they're both great fun, if totally different. I'm not all the way through COD4, but it plays like a thoughtfully-made COD game and it looks pretty darned good. Crysis plays like Far Cry on steroids and looks like - well, there were moments that were nearly photorealistic.

I'll reserve final judgment on which game I like better until I'm done with COD4, but I'm leaning toward Crysis. I love the open-ended gameplay of Crysis. I love it. I play both games on max difficulty, so that could be influencing my judgment. On Delta difficulty in Crysis, you really have to think strategically and be skilled with the suit's abilities. But the payoff is gigantic when you pull a really clever assault. Further, even when my clever plans completely go to hell halfway through, the chaos that ensues makes for some memorable moments.

My Crysis gripes: Ending - no so great. Still, I feverishly hated the ending of HL2 but acknowledge that its a great game. Physics: Yeah, the limited rag-doll physics were a little odd, but my biggest gripe concerns the vehicles. I tried the following tactic a few times: Grab a truck, cloak and drive it at the next enemy hardpoint as fast as possible. Then I dive out as the enemy fire gets thick and wait for the ensuing gigantic crash. Only thing was, the vehicles would just poop out after a short distance and while the enemy might be momentarily confused, there would not be anything like the devastation that I was hoping for.

It would be way cool if I could get that nanosuit in COD4 - there were a couple of times last night playing COD4 when I really wished that I had Maximum Strength......

Graphics: Crysis
AI: Crysis (COD4 AI is pathetic)
Most Interesting: Crysis
Most Likely To Make You Sneak And Snipe: Crysis

I played COD4 on max everything with difficulty at max. The AI is dumber then a bag of rocks. They try to make up for it by making the bots superpowerful and your weapons weaker when you play on the hardest level(nothing more annoying then bots taking "no look" shots or John Wayne shots and getting 1 shot kills. If you play on the hardest level this happens more frequently then not. You can pop a bot from behind with a shotgun at a range of less than 5 feet and they will sometimes manage to still get a shot off before they even turn around and kill you. Nice AI huh? Realism right?). I would prefer the realism stay the same and just improve the AI. They also spawn bots almost indefinitly unless you advance forward.

The autosave is annoying. They must have some former Ubisoft programmers writing save game code. F5 works guys...don't leave it out next time. Nothing more annoying than having to play 5 minutes into a level, getting killed and having to start over at an autosave. This is pure aggravation as it forces you to basically memorize the level and the spawned bots. Improved AI and a quick save button would make for a much better game.

The black and white level with the helicopter is the shining moment of this game. It looks like video footage we've all scene from Iraq...but now you are making your own highlight reel.

COD4 IMHO is simply overrated.

Crysis is the bleeding edge of gaming right now. I have an 8800GTX, 2 gigs of RAM and an E6600 running at a conservative OC of 3Ghz. If I max out all settings @ 1920x1200 and leave AA off it looks amazing. It can become choppy even with my setup though because this game is a graphics hellhound. I have found that by simply setting the POST PROCESSING setting to High from Very High has very minimal effect on visuals and allows the game to run quite smoothly with all other settings set to max. If you don't have a high end system then you can't enjoy Crytek's efforts. This is probably why the game isn't being reviewed as high as it should. I don't think Crytek should be punished for opening up the future of gaming with Crysis. This game is leaps and bounds ahead of anything else currently available.

The AI in Crysis is amazingly sharp(although not perfect...IE...they should be able to climb ladders and blow up sniper towers). The bots will follow sounds from anywhere on the map. They will hunt you in groups. They do try to move for cover. They are intimidating. They will sometimes kill members of there own group on accident. The first time I ran into the Koreans with the knock off Nano suits I about crapped my pants. I found myself ducking down in front of my LCD. Same thing happened when I discovered the heavily armored guys with the chainguns. COD4 never had this effect on me.

The ability to travel freely through the world instead of a linear rat in a maze approach(COD4) is another plus for Crysis. You don't have to travel to the highlighted waypoint. You are free to move around and can attack the levels however you want.

Vehicle interaction is definitly fun in both games but I would give the nod to Crysis again. Driving the battle tank and blowing up other tanks and running over soldiers with RPG's is quite fun.

Crysis should be FPS of the year. It beats COD4 in every category. The only problem with Crysis is that you have to have a high end system to enjoy it.

I have a high end rig that can run crysis at 1280X1024 at about 45fps average but COD4 is still more fun. Crysis is way overrated. COD4 is far more creative by being more intense, there isn't a dull moment even in the loading screens and it never feels like there is a single choppy moment even during the loading screen. In crysis, there are way too many auto saves during action scenes which causes a huge one second pause which is really annoying and they didn't even add a disable feature.

((example, after you paint the ship with yur binops and the f-15's or whatever fly by and bomb and sink the ship, right after that a chopper comes after you and when I shoot it and it explodes, it saves during the exploding process killing the action.. and many more saves follow after and before that))

In crysis if you shoot an enemy with a rocket launcher dead on, or right next to where the enemy is standing, they don't even explode with guts flying everywhere, they just fall as if you shot them with a pistol and all you hear is the sound of a missle exploding but no fire or anything which is stupid. Everytime you kill an enemy in crysis they all fall pretty much the same way(give or take some knock back distance but always in the same shape and form of falling) and gets boring after seeing the same thing over and over. I think it's a shame they didn't even write a script in the graphic engine for flying body parts when using that rocket launcher. It's very unrealistic. Maybe if the parts exploded and went flying and when they bounced off whatever they hit and left some nice blood stains that would add a lot more fun to it. Another thing they killed was the nuke scene in Crysis, that was pretty cool how they showed it on the tv screen, but afterwards they should have showed an outside exterior look at the explosion to add more thrill to it like they did in COD4.

In COD4, the enemies have several ways of falling and dieing making it much more realistic and sometimes they don't die like in real life and try to get one more kill while laying wounded on the ground which is what I call very creative scripting that crysis does not have. Plus COD4 has so many interesting features in the game that make you really focus and not want to blink, like the sniper scene with the wind, or the level thats in black and white when you're flying above in the chopper bombing the enemies on the ground(that was fun! nothing like that in Crysis and your men have a sense of humor like when he said something like "WOW I'LL BET HE HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS!" after bombing him from the chopper), or how bout the level right before the nuke where you can shoot at the guys on the building and they go flying. OR! how bout them dogs in the game! ever let one of those k-9's get you! it's so freaky it's thrilling! If Crysis had dogs I'll bet they wouldn't look as good as COD4's dogs. There's more than that I cannot even think of to add right now, all I know is there is something new in every level which makes COD4 so unpredictable with action packed fun while in Crysis the only thing that is pretty much new each level is the environment around you. The core level in crysis was cool the first time around, now I always skip that level because I get lost in there for too long and that's no fun. Again, inside that core level, they have an awesome looking alien enemy to kill but there is only that one and no other different looking ones which I find kinda boring floating around killing the same thing over and over. First time around it was cool but I can't play that core level ever again.

In crysis, the only thing that game has going for it is the graphics IMO and I actually think COD4's graphics are better to look at and I admit they are more basic and simple but amazing and breath taking at the same time. In crysis most of the game is the same old stuff just different weather and time of day with the same enemies to kill over and over.

COD4's single player is actually the best FPS game I have ever played in my entire life and I own both games. Crysis is awesome at first but gets old after a while, cod4's action, storyline, the music that really pumps you up is just awesome and never gets boring. As I played COD4 the first time, every new level has something new to do plus your men have a sense of humor every once in a while which just adds more colorful taste to the game.
