Question Secondary router user interface not accessible via its IP address

The rabbit has brought me for Easter the following problem to solve. Please kindly assist me to resolve it :

Brief summary of the issue: The outdated secondary router ( Mercusys MW325R) just attached to my local area network is though visible among the available connections, still I can not access its user interface for re-configuration. So, how shall I proceed to make the user interface available again ?

What I have and what I did so far :

The primary router is integrated into the ISP 's modem ( KAON CG3002). Its user interface is seamlessly accessible by entering 192.168.0.1
Internet access is working fine through the default gateway as long as the secondary router remains unconnected to the LAN.

Once I connect the secondary router, it does show among the networks as a network NOT secured by password. ( therefore I leave it connected for a few minutes only)

Prior to running into this issue, the secondary router was re-configured as follows:
1, DHCP was turned off.
2, the router was switched in bridge mode.

Ever since it is all in vain to do a factory reset, the user interface remains unavailable by typing in its URL to the browser's URL bar..

The current Ipconfig status is available for consideration on the attached link.IPCONFIG link

Thank you for your efforts.

No. Don't use bridge mode.
Bridge mode is, when you connect to primary router via wifi.

Preparations are to be made as following:
1. DHCP off,
2. Set static IP on LAN interface. It has to be in same network as primary router.
So if primary router LAN address is 192.168.0.1 (mask 255.255.255.0), then set IP address for secondary router LAN address to 192.168.0.2 (mask 255.255.255.0).
3. Connect secondary router to network using LAN port. Do not use WAN port.
WAN port is yellow, LAN ports are white.

Thank you for the quick response. Before I could proceed as suggested, I need to regain my capability to access the user interface by typing in its current IP address.

From the network properties I can read out the current IP address, I type it in the URL address bar of the browser, and get the message: "Website unavailable. 192.168.0.25 has refused the connection"

Originally it used to be set to 192.168.0.12, but the bridge mode configuration obviously has made a big mess.
So, if factory reset won't help, what must I do to regain access to the user interface of the secondary router ?

192.168.0.25 is IP address of your computer (not secondary router).

Factory reset will help. Why wouldn't it?

Do factory reset on secondary router.
Secondary router has to be disconnected from network.
Connect your pc to router (LAN port).
Connect to IP address of your secondary router and configure it.

After hard reset I still can not access GUI of Mercusys router.

mwlogin.net doesn'l help either.
The primary routerGUI is easily accessible in the browser.
Mercusys drives me crazy.

Did you connect your pc to secondary router with a cable (to router LAN port)?
Have only your pc connected to the router (nothing else).
Disable all wifi and bluetooth connections on your pc.
Primary router should not be accessible, if you did that.

Access secondary router by IP address.
Execute on your pc
ipconfig /all
and find default gateway value. That is IP address of your secondary router.

Your secondary router is likely telling you it wants to be in a trash can :) It is extremely old and slow.

I suspect you have some kind of IP conflict. So it is a bit confusing but I think the default IP for that router is 192.168.1.1. If it reset itself it will now be on a different network than you main router.

What I would do is completely unplug it from your current network, do a factory reset and plug just your pc into the router. Check your IPCONFIG /all and verify that your PC is receiving a IP address in that range from the router. you should be able to put 192.168.1.1 into the browser to gain access.

After this go though the steps to put it into AP mode and change the IP to safe IP in your main network....192.168.0.250 tends to work if you do not know what ip are not in the DHCP pool in the main router.

It could actually be that the router has failed. Not sure when that router model was made but 802.11n is getting close to 15yrs old.

Thank you all. I can now configure the Mercusys router to serve as a wired AP.

So far
- the DHCP server has been turned off, and
- the default gateway is 192.168.0.1
- the primary router GUI is accessible at 192.168.0.1
- LAN IP settings of Mercusys router is configured as Manual.
- the IP addess of secondary router (Mercusys) has been configured to 192.168.0.12

See WAN status in Mercusys GUI on this link : https://app.screencast.com/Y5GcnAHHVmohy

See LAN status here :https://app.screencast.com/nQxrOTmYNMuxg

See Wireless setting here : https://app.screencast.com/txBiKfIxfzlVR

See ipconfig status here :https://app.screencast.com/5De5HZkv1yhDX

Now Mercusys connection is secured by pw and the connection has become an additional option to choose.

My final question : are these settings appropriate when my ultimate goal is that the secondary router serves only as a wired access point ?

Seems ok these older routers do not have many features.

I would disable IPv6 on your pc or even the ISP router if you can. It causes all kinds of strange issues and provides almost no benefit. There are no IPv6 only sites other than some smaller ones in asia.
