Seeking Assistance with a HP P6370t with - HP IONA GL8E 575765-001 575765-201 MS-7613 IONA-GL8E (Motherboard). Operating system Windows 7 64 bit and a Intel ® Core™ i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20 Ghz, 3201 Mhz, 2 Core(s) 4 Logical and BIOS Version 2.6 (American Megatrends Inc. 5.15, 6/25/10).

I’m looking to replace the original graphics card (Nvidia GT220) 128 BIT 2.0 X16 with a GT1030 64 BIT 3.0 X 4. Each are both ‘low profile’ as I see no issues with fitment. The GT1030 will only be used for processing and editing video at up to 2K (No Gaming), yet I believe the GT1030 is good for 4K viewing.

Will I experience any issues by replacing the 2.0 x16 with a 3.0x4? And, will throttling be a problem with the current Mother Board? Any problems with the BIOS? All replies associated with the above are greatly appreciated.

I think it should be fine and can’t see any major problem with this combination. Just make sure you have an HDMI 2.x compliant cable, otherwise you might have problems viewing 4K at 60Hz.

I used to run a Quadro P400 2GB on my workstation which was 64-bit bus, and it could happily drive 3x 4K screens and edit 1080p HD video. The ports on a GT 1030 are what prevent you from doing multi-4K.

Thank you very much for the courtesy. Well, I've had the HDMI cable since 2010. It's 20276 which I believe is 1.4. Should I move up to 2.0 or 2.1? I've not been down this path. A reply is appreciated.

My understanding is that HDMI 1.4 is only certified for 4K 30Hz. I have been lucky with unknown short 1m cables working with 4K 60 on occasion though. Perhaps try it first and get a new cable if you encounter problems.

My monitor is rated for HDMI 1.4b, but my graphics card can support HDMI 2.0. You’ll only ever get the maximum resolution and frame rates of HDMI 1.4b, which are 1080p/144fps and 1440p/75Hz, plus up to 4K/60fps depending on the level of color data compression. I'll wait to see what happens when I install the GT1080. Thank you very much for the support.

No worries. If you can find a Quadro half-height for the same price or less, it might be a better option for your applications. Multi monitor and Autodesk certified. DisplayPort only though.

Just make sure you get the GT 1030 with the GDDR5 VRAM, and NOT the GDDR4 VRAM. Very important!
The GDDR5 VRAM would not make any difference with Windows 7 64 bit. I spoke with Nvidia today and they could not find the information adjoined to my MOBO. The specifications or data with the GT1080 will not be fully supported with my system, at lest not 100%. Nvidia has clearly specified this to me which I was already aware. Maybe, 75 % which is good enough. I made some gains, slight but better. I do not play games, just video editing which should be beneficial with the GT1030.

* Graphics increased from 4.2 to 7.2 in Windows Experience which is a boost. And, Gaming Graphics 3D: moved from 6.3 to 7.2 (Not Interested there). Card is already installed, no problem. Here is the data below. * You can see the difference as opposed to the GT620 in Post #10.

What do you mean "improve the below figures?" You can add RAM to your system, but the amount of VRAM isn't changing outside of changing to a better GPU.
You completely misconstrued the content. I'm speaking of cables (HDMI) nothing more. You included my graph and associated such to your own way . You're completely off base and wrong.
* I was referring to the data as being improved "Not with the HDMI cables".

* Is this card 'defective"? I'm returning as 1 pin is missing at end, denoted with red arrow. Card seems to be working fine.
