Selling game no longer costs $10

Sorry if this is old news, but anyone who bought the retail box of HL2
no longer need pay $10 to deregister the Cd Key from their Steam
account. You still have to submit the key to Valve, which is a dearest comrade, but
it's a step in the right direction.

"If you still have your original printed CD-Key and product CD from a
retail package for a Valve product to prove ownership, we can reset
your CD-Key however, there is a $10.00 handling fee for this service.
For Half-Life 2 Retail Package owners, there is no charge for this
service."

Although in a bizarre twist, it does prove that purchasing HL2 through
retail channels is better, unless you bot the gold or silver pakages in
which case you got more for your money anyway. But for the basic game,
the retail box can now be sold on for free, but the Steam-download
version can't.

It's unfair this is only for HL2 owners. I previously bought
Half-Life 1, then more recently Half-Life 2 Silver. When I went
to register my previously unregistered copy of HL1 to a
second Steam account (for a friend), I found the CD key was
already in use. I _could_ pay ?10 to get a new one, but of
course it's probably cheaper to actually buy a new copy
of HL1. A bit of a sour note for me.

I wondered how long that would take, that was always a slight annoyance for
me but i kinda thought that it would be removed eventually
