Can anyone advise. I have a new laptop and setting up my existing email
account. Everthing seems to be working but I do not get a cop of my 'sent'
email in my Sent Items box. How can I change this?

Outlook Express: Tools > Options > Send > tick the box to automatically save
sent messages.
Outlook: Tools > Options > Preferences > Email Settings > tick the Save
copies of sent messages.
