Serious HDD issue - visible in bios and in windows but not accessible, and then it disappear

Hi guys

I was moving some files to my storage disk when suddenly the storage disk disappeared.
In event viewer this was written:
-The device, \Device\Harddisk3\DR3, has a bad block.

I then tried to restart, and the HDD is visible in bios, but loading windows take a very long time.
In windows it say the disk is there but no info about it is available, the size of the disk is blank.
I load a partition manager and same there, no info available and no actions.
I try to right click the HDD but it is just loading for a long time until it disappear again, and this is written in event viewer:
-The device, \Device\Harddisk3\DR3, has a bad block
-Disk 3 has been surprise removed.

Starting again it is not visible in bios, so I turn of pc, disconnect cables and start up again.
After a long loading time, in windows I launch chkdsk from cmd, but chkdsk stop after a short time and same message in events pop up.
Lastly i launched chkdsk before windows start, it stop at 9% and after some time pc crash.

Now I have disconnected the HDD in search for a answer to how I can fix this nightmare.
If anyone have any suggestions, knowledge or some tips. please share, I'm stressed out

Thanks for your reply, but I don't give up yet


I tried to make a image of the HDD in two different programs, but both gave me error message saying I have bad sectors, so most likely it seems like thats the case.

Going on a hunt to find a solution, google her I come

Ok, it seems that Acronis true image have tools to do a backup of HDD with bad sectors. And seagate have their own backup/image tool powered by Acronis called DiscWizard. So I downloaded it and will try it out.

Nope that did not work. I runned two different backups but I got zero data.

Is this an external hdd?

Because if you use something like Acronis or Diskwizard they add their own drivers and they'll stop the external hdd from working

But you may still have to replace the hdd

No it is an internal HDD, but thanks for the reminder.

Anyway, I delivered it to a company to see what they could find out and there is their conclusion:
The surface area where firmware is installed is damaged making the disk unreadable.
They think they are able to extract raw data and rebuild it onto a USB memory pin.
This will cost around 1000 euro.

Any way I can fix this myself?
