LOL ... 50 8O

I'm only 14.

Of course i won't look at someone whose 50 because i'm not 50 years old. I always thought age changes the way you look at things and change what you like and what you don't like. A 50 year old guy might like a 50 year old woman when they are 50. Just like a 5 year old girl likes barbies doll and a 18 year old likes guys. Do you get what i'm saying?

Hey slim142,

The updates for SD are working fine. The reason why Spyware doctor's updates is working in safemode is because another AV or Firewall is blocking the updates. You can simply test this by temporarily disabling your AV and Firewall to see which program is not allowing you to update. You can also add the following processes to your allowed list into your Firewall or AV, swdsvc.exe, update.exe, swdoctor.exe.

Regarding the start up issue, please try the following:

Please make sure that the Spyware Doctor 'startup items' are in the Startup list in the System Configuration Utility.

To do this please follow the steps below:

1. Click on Start > Run and type msconfig > ok

2. System Configuaration Utility will then start

3. Click on the 'Startup' tab

4. In the 'Startup Item' column go down the list and look for 'Spyware Doctor' and/or 'swdoctor.exe'

5. Once you have located them see if the box next to them is ticked or unticked? If the file(s) are not ticked please put a tick in the box(s), then click the 'Apply' button then click on 'Close'. You will need to reboot the PC.

** If the file(s) are not in the list please do the following**

Go to C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor and look for the file called ' swdoctor '. Right click on the file and select ' Create Shortcut '. Now with the newly created shortcut, click and drag it into 'Start menu' >> 'All Programs' >> 'Startup' and drop the file into the box that expands out from 'Startup'.

Yes, like fine wine and cheeses, women do improve with age, but there is this little problem involving gravity and age..... wink, wink, if you know what I mean, so yes I love the W, but I will always look at a lovely lady.

Slim142, just saw your problem, your problem is related to Nvidia. I seen it on the Nvidia and PC Tools forum. http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46485&page=2&highlight=nvida.

Looks like Nvidia wont be fixing this problem 8O

What does Wink WInk mean? I'm stumped. It seems like i haven't had your 45 years of slang language education.

Apparently you missed my post 7/4/07 @10:33
Click start -> run ->type msconfig -> enter -> startup tab. Uncheck all programs that appear to be connected with the Active Armor, you may need to look at the path to be sure. Make note of changes.

Then

Click start -> run ->type services.msc -> enter. Look for services that might be related to Active Armor. Double click service click on stop and change drop down to disable. Make note of changes.

Reboot and try to update. If you can update Active Armor is the culprit. Go into the Active Armor and enable Spyware Doctor updater. If you cannot update and have the key/disk etc. try uninstalling Active Armor and try again. More than likely it is your Active Armor causing the problem.
Why do I bother.

Because you didnt give me the exact name of NVIDIA firewall. There is no such thing as ActiveArmor in Services thats why I couldnt do what you told me to.

If you woulda tell me NVIDIA IAM, then I could have done what you wrote.

Well I would have looked at any service with Nvidia in the name and googled it. you would have found what it was. First hit on google. INTERNAL]http://www.internetsecurityzone.com/Entities/?_NVIDIA+IAM+LSP
NAME: NVIDIA Application Filter
That pretty much lets you know that it's job is filtering applications. Gee I wonder if that could be it? As a second way to check you could have killed all services that had the name Nvidia in them temporarily. Or you could have just asked and I would have found the info for you. But you didn't post any information with regards to your progress, so I couldn't give you any additional advice. I don't know why I should care, you cost yourself the time and aggravation.

Edit: Notice exactly what I said
Look for services that might be related to Active Armor.
the key words are "might be related".
