So yesterday I decided to clean my computer, get rid of the bulk of the dust using a Hoover very cautiously and cleaning the CPU and GPU heatsinks. I had done this before and had never caused any trouble. Everything seemed to be going swimmingly when I restarted my computer. Boot times were fine and I was able to go around doing my daily business, listen to music and game.
But, an hour or two later, I got a blue screen. I had never had one before and due to this, was worried sick. I figured, well it could be anything so I restarted and once again, everything was back to normal, until the same thing happened and I got another blue screen. So I restarted it YET again and all was fine for the remainder of the night.
Today I woke up and when I turned my PC on, it booted very slowly, i got on to windows and it was very slow, until it completely halted and crashed, I.e froze. I kept restarting the system and got various issues, like adjusted resolution, screen freezes e.t.c.
Eventually, I restarted the computer and was met face to face with a message that read:
A disk error has occurred
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart.
This was when I really began to worry. So I did as it said restarted and this happened a few more times. After several restarts I got this message (shown in image attached). It ran a load of messages saying: recovering orphan file xxxxxx into directory xxxxxx. When it had finished, I once again restarted and continued to receive 'a disk error has occurred.....'. I got this continuosly for about a minute until it decided to finally boot to windows. Once again the boot was very slow and took WAY longer than usual. So now I'm sitting here, running a FULL system antivirus scanner (bitdefender). Now I sit helplessly hoping for the best. If you have any questions please ask on here. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
