basically title.
A torrent computer is a slave computer basically.

While a server. Well compared to a slave computer what exactly are the benefits of a home media server.
More or less. Anyone with personal experience. Would there be an issue with file transferring between a torrent computer and the master.

I guess my real question is what are the actual benefit of a server. I get that you store files on there. Well, if i have VLC media player installed on there and i run it from that hard drive how does that actually work if it's playing through my computer?
Does it utilize any of my computer's resources or Only the server's?

It's very simply to see the benefits of a slave. Everything you've got now on a computer with no monitor and you can pull a desktop of that computer anytime right on your own computer.

So what does a media server have compared to that?
What exactly do i get from a media server?
I intend if i do go media server route to use ubuntu for now.

is a slave computer basically like using Virtualbox? having another os in an os. But, the big difference there's another physical device nearby? or is it a bit bigger then that?
If someone could please list the differences between the 2 pros/cons kinda thing maybe? that would be amazing!!!!!!

not for pirating a friend pointed me to the website. posted it on facebook about a slave computer he said he used it and it worked well.
But, thanks for only reading into the basic title and not the actual concept of it. I want to have something to store data on and be able to access it anywhere. With of course being able to control and set other things up on the computer without having to be near it.
That would be a bigger question. would i be able to control a server system from my main computer?

Also, GOOGLE how to set up a slave computer
You'll see that link towards the bottom of first page.

I also just realized another question. if i place a Virtual box file (a whole os) on the server. Will it only use the server's resources or can i have it set to use my main computers resources. Of course the actual application would be installed on my main pc. Seems like a stupid question I'm likely reading into too much.
