Can you find SP2 for WinXP somewhere? I prefer a manual installation. Tried Microsoft already but the download link there isn't working.

Solution
i've long ago lost those files. i do have an iso that has been updated current as of last year i believe it is. but i don't have the manual install files around anymore. :(

pro 64 bit version is still on MS site but that is all i see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17791

this appears to be a working link but it does not say what version it is for http://windows-xp-service-pack-2.soft32.com/free-download/ remember there were a ton of different versions of xp.

good luck

Thank you, Petrossa. I use XP only for gaming purposes and I don't use it online. Some games require SP2 (and you have to have SP1 or SP2 installed before you can install SP3).

So it seems that Microsoft isn't offering SP2 manual installation package anymore. Tried googleing of course but with vague results. Anyone else, got any tips where to find standalone SP2 for XP?

It would seem that finding that SP for download is next to impossible.
I might have it lying around somewhere on my home pc, so after work today I'll go have a look for you and upload it to a site for you to download.

Watch this space.

Thank you, Math Geek! I've got Home 32-bit version so the MS link won't help. But the other link (to Soft32.com) helped and I got SP2 package downloaded and installed.

Thanks to that link I also found another place where you can download exactly the same package: http://www.download3k.com/Install-Windows-XP-SP2.html.

And Petrossa, thanks for looking anyway :)

I still use xp for retro gaming as well sad a few windows programs don't work with newer windows no matter what workaround you try to do - I got a had full of games that don't install on newer windows but loads right up and plats excellent on good old xp [was playing on it today ] I just wish newer motherboard would allow xp cause my xp rig is kinda retro its self [lol] Microsoft could only wish they could come out with a better os.. seems all they can do is make a lot of bloat ware os's with more gimmick then core os.. [opinion]

after you get that sp installed report back on how well it went and all if any issues with doing it through a 3ed party

thanks
