[SOLVED] Set up question

Hello everyone,
I currently have a monitor that only has one HDMI port and a VGA port, VGAs are basically useless. I need to hook up a XBOX and a laptop to the same monitor, I will only be using on at a time, both for gaming. How could I use both devices without having to unplug stuff every time i switch. Can i use a male HDMI to 2 female HDMIs and use have 2 HDMI cords basically going into one plug. Pr will this ruin something. Thanks.

You need an HDMI switch, not an HDMI splitter. Something like this -- https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=30919
