I have been gifted a monitor from a friend of mine and I am trying to add it to an existing setup.

The new monitor is an AOC 27B1H that will be using an HDMI connection.
My existing monitor is an Acer R240HY using a DVI (maybe its a VGA but Im pretty sure its DVI).
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7500 CPU @ 3.40 GHz

I have tried the "Detect" button in windows settings and the "Set Up Multiple Displays" section of the NVIDIA control panel and neither can find the second monitor. I have also updated and reinstalled the Monitor/Display Drives from the device manager in Windows. I am not quite sure what else to do, I have tried every solution I have found from a quick google search and I am not the biggest tech guy at the moment and am trying to learn. The monitor is on the HDMI input.

Check the BIOS to see if the internal GPU is turned on. BIOS > Chipset > Internal Graphics

And are you absolutely sure that the back of the GTX1060 3GB doesn't have its own HDMI port? That seems very peculiar to me. Even the most basic model should have at least HDMI and DisplayPort. A photo of the back of your PC would help us guide you.

What hdmi connection are you using?
The 1060, or the motherboard?
Here is the instruction manual for the AOC 27B1H

There may be a switch on the monitor to select the input connection. HDMI or dvi.

Ahh. I think I see what you mean. The HDMI port connects to the motherboard which is a Gigabyte Technologies Co., Ltd. H110M-A-CF. My GPU only has the DVI input on the back of the case, is there a way to get the second monitor to work through the motherboard or does it have to be the GPU?

The monitor is on the HDMI source setting, im not sure what HMDI connection I am using but the cord has worked with other devices previously.

Nothing wrong with using two graphics adapters. One is the GTX1060 and the other is the intel integrated graphics adapter.
Plug the new monitor into the hdmi port on the motherboard.

It should work, but to get full resolution you need to install the intel integrated driver for your motherboard.

I have already plugged in the second monitor to the motherboard but its not detected at all. Would installing the intel integrated driver for the motherboard help in detecting the new monitor?

And how would I go about downloading a motherboard driver?

Thank You! This worked. I switched it from auto to enabled.

I can't figure out how to upload a photo here but I can assure you that my graphics card only has a DVI output and my mother board only has a singular HDMI output. Thanks again.
