I can imagine this card running Doom3 very smoothly. Still wandering about Half Life 2...

okay just out of curiousity, HL2 has been delayed how many times alrdy? Was that whole HL2 deal a hoax? Is there such a game under production?

-AMD Athlon64 3200+@2300mhz -GAK8N -3x512 Hynix PC3200 ram@192mhz 2.5-3-3-7 -Albatron 5900PV @ 560/1000 -SB Audigy -Adaptec 1210SA Raid -2x120G Seagate SATA150 7200.7 Raid0 -Enermax 460watt psu

Hehe.. well in all honestly I've lost interest in HL2, at least for now.
Too much crap flying around..and I eventually lost notice.

UT2K4 is my current favorite FPS.
And Doom 3 is certainly equal appeal to most. And this is coming from a hardcore CounterStrike player.

With Far Crys release, and the graphical goodness that is Painkiller (even though I dont particularly enjoy it as much as Far Cry) have made me lose interest in HL2 vaporware.

And hey, dont forget about Serious Sam 2! I loved that one, especially considering its the last great cooperative FPS left.

I lost my intrest in HL-2 as well, too much bullcrap flying around.
If R300 can run Doom]|[ smoothly during a computer show, then why do we still count on next gen. cards such as NV40 and R420 hoping to run it smoothly?
True. Especially considering that was an Alpha!
I think Carmack has recently stated that now with NV40 hardware has now gone past what cutting edge games can utilize like Doom 3.
I think the NV30/R300 stuff is about right on par for Doom 3...
I'm still getting a PCIE based system and throwing a 6800 Ultra in there!

Oh I almost forgot, that was the very first Alpha! LOL
I'm pretty sure Carmack has finalised most of the things in Doom3, so can't they just release it now and patch it later when DX9c becomes avaliable? Or is there something else?
Doom 3 is Open GL (prob OGL 2.0) based. DX9C wont affect it at all.
Many of Carmacks specific requests have been built into the NV30 and 40 though.
The same visual effects can be had with OpenGL as D3D.. but OpenGL you can port it to Linux (Carmack is a huge fan of Linux) and MacOS. DirectX is proprietary to Windows.

I personally prefer OpenGL for that reason alone.
I also bow down to Carmack as any self respecting graphics fanatic does on a regular basis.

I am still hoping for hl2 only for multi player options. Far Cry wont be able to hold it's own multiplayer, so i must prey for HL-2 to set a new standard. what about those people with those free coupons for hl-2

Even though since i'm moving out to BFE i probably shouldn't worry about multiplayer. But that's besides the point.

I can't wait to see Nvidia's new card with all the shaders working correctly and all the new games working with them as well. It's going to be pretty awesome.
