I'm an old fogie so please tolerate me!
I want to share, network, 2 desktops (W-10 & W-11). Do I need an ethernet switch and a hdmi switch? Ethernet shares the desktops and HDMI shares the display? I have only 1 monitor.
Thank you in advance!

Do you have a router? Or router built into modem?
If you don't have it, you'll need a router too.

What monitor do you have? Does it have multiple video inputs?
If it has, then you connect one pc to one video input, second pc to second video input.
Switch between inputs with buttons on monitor.

If your monitor has single input, then yes - you'll need HDMI switch also.
Make sure, both your pc-s have HDMI output.

Router yes. Display is Dell 27", only 1 HDMI and 1 port with many pins. The W-11 uses HDMI but the W-10 doesn't have HDMI. Is there some kind of switch that handles 2 different types of video cables i.e. HDMI and 15 (I think) cable)?

What is that? Can you show a photo?

VGA (D-SUB) input perhaps? Does your W10 pc have this type of output?

What outputs does W10 pc have?

Video signal switches usually switch between same type of signal input.
So switch between multiple HDMI inputs or switch between multiple DP inputs.

VGA (Sub D) figure on Google matches the non HDMI video cable.
The W-10 has that port type. Is there an adapter that joins VGA (Sub D) to HDMI so both PC's can use 1 HDMI switch?
