Question SharePoint oddly high CPU Usage (5-20%)

Sharepoint.exe seems to be using an abnormally high amount of CPU on my computer when comparing to my laptop in which it uses 0%, the app is inside files associated with OneDrive and not necessarily an installed app per say.
It isn't obvious what causes this to me as it started out of the blue and I didn't notice it imminently after any updates. This task starts at random points (often when turning on my computer) although sometimes when opening OneDrive (not always) and sometimes just simply at random points during my day.
My temporary solution is simply ending the task in task manager which fixes it for the remainder of my session. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall different versions of OneDrive (wiping out all associated OneDrive files) with no success.

I hope someone could lend some advice!

(Windows 11 // 22H2)

Objective being to discover why SharePoint is being run or launched.

Two places to look:

1) Task Manager > Startup apps.

2) Task Scheduler: Could be that some other app is triggering the launch of SharePoint.

A sort of round about way would be to look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for some error code, warning, or even an informational event (most likely) being captured just before or that the time SharePoint launches.

Relibility History is user friendly and the time line format may reveal some pattern that seems now to be "random points during my day".

Event View requires more time and effort to navigate and understand.

How To - How to use Windows 10 Event Viewer | Tom's Hardware Forum (tomshardware.com)

Overwhelming at first so just take your time and explore. Very likely you will figure out where to focus your efforts to get more information and details. E.g., some specifc error code that constantly appears.

"SharePoint"...

In what context is SharePoint an issue or connection with your PC and laptop?

Is this an SP instance you're running on your system, or some server you're connecting to?

Details, please.
the SharePoint.exe is located and labelled as an "Application" under OneDrive files in a folder labelled the version of OneDrive, for example : 23.169.0813.0001 which is essentially the version of OneDrive I am presuming. It is using excessive CPU causing my fans on my PC to excessively spin, (it should not be using upwards of 20% CPU considering it never used to).

There is no connection between my PC and laptop with this issue I just used the laptop as an example of how it is not an issue with my laptop but is with my PC. (My laptop has all the same settings, updates and OneDrive versions as the PC).

Let me know what other details you need.

Are your systems linked/connected to a corporate server?

SP and OneDrive are sort of linked, but not in a typical home situation.

What OS are you using?

They are not linked to a corporate server. My OneDrive account is a personal account on the individual level.

My School account is used for the other apps, Word, Excel etc for the subscription, although I've always done that on all my devices and never had this issue. Plus, my school account is not in anyway linked with my OneDrive app and I do not complete any work with my school account on the device but use it for the ability to access the apps.

OS - Windows 11 as stated above.

Looking through my WIn 11 Pro system, yes...SharePoint is a sort of subsystem with OneDrive and probably Office365.
So that label appearing is not abnormal.

Does this use percentage go down after a while?
Could you define what you mean by "label appearing is no abnormal" in a little more detail if you don't mind :) !

Also, the percentage varies and I have no idea what causes it to do so, sometimes it has been open for a while and it is still moving between the 5 - 10% Mark, and ultimately causing fans to spin and have a small slow down effect etc. It's just interesting that it maintains its position at 0% consistently on my other device with the exact same settings / setup etc. So no, the percentage doesnt really calm down, just seems to be all over the place depending on the day etc, just like its all over the place regarding where it starts and what causes it to start.

Do you think this has any link to any malicious software
or hardware compatibility / recent update compatibility issues?

"not abnormal" as in SharePoint, in this context, is just a subset of OneDrive. They share dlls and other libraries.

Going from 5% to 10% may just be your OneDrive doing its sync thing.

No, not malware or anything malicious.

No, not malware or anything malicious.
But that's interesting because I've tracked this and even when OneDrive is not visibly syncing (or has nothing to sync because I've done nothing) or even when OneDrive is not even active on my device, it is still using this % for 30 minutes + ( has never stopped in my experience before I end the task). When comparatively, it never happens on my laptop.

Would you overall solution be to continue ending the task in task manager then when it starts? (Considering the stress it appears to put on my PC, causing heat, slowdown etc.

Thanks

As well as this, its worth noting that it appears the CPU usage increases alongside other activities which have no relation to SharePoint on the device. For example when using apps such as Chrome and loading tabs for YouTube for example the CPU usage increases.
