I'm not sure why you're breaking TV's, but if you are then yes a projector could be more, err... robust!
On the whole though a projector will not give you the same contrast and brightness as a regular display. The background you are projecting onto will absorb and scatter some of the light. Even if you have the whitest of white walls.
Tired of 50 inch fragile TVs breaking friend of mine told me to consider projectors for movies gaming etc, is it a wise move?
Hey there,
I am wondering if you have found the solution. I have the same debate. I am a student living on campus but have to move out in half year. I am thinking a projector is easier to move since I have no idea where I am going. Would like to know your experience! Thank.
Although I didn't get an answer for my question, I would like to share my experience with whoever needs the same knowledge!
After checking out Amazon reviews (https://www.amazon.com/AAXA-M5-Projector-Brightness-Resolution/dp/B01M0G3HGL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502842248&sr=8-1&keywords=aaxa+m5), Wirecutter/Projector central reviews, I ended up a portable projector - AAXA M5.
It performs very well in my dorm, which doesn't have to be very dark. I brought to my friend's place to set up a double screen game scene. haha. I even found an exciting use case - mirroring my phone by Chromecast! Anyone who is interested, check this out! Hope it's helpful 😉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGJ4DSYpOZg
There are many brands and models in the market. Benq, optoma, AAXA technologies, Vivitek are all well-known projector brands. In order to make a projector purchase decision in a dorm, throw ratio is important. 1) do you have a wall to display or do you wanna purchase a screen? 2) How big do you want the screen to be? 3) how far can you set up the projector?
