Since AMD totally botched the announcement of any plans on releasing higher end GPU's that can compete with Nvidia's 2080TI at the CES 2020 event, now I'm willing to give the RX 5700XT a chance. Can I at least play the most demanding games in 1440P on ultra settings at 60-80 frames per second since it is claimed this card is on the lower high end tier? 🤔

Solution
Yeah, its fast, but not sure about those temperatures people keep reporting. The red devil might be the way to for me for now.
Yeah try to OC it to the same clocks as the Taichi. Those 5700XTs run hot so they won't overclock much, my heavily OCed 2080 Ti maxes out at 60C.

The 5700XT measures temperature significantly differently than Nvidia does. "60C" isn't even really 60C, as Nvidia doesn't show hotspot temperature, which is the number that is freaking everyone out (mine hits 110c).

I have the RX 5700 (note: not the XT version) and do not regret it. I'm not sure where people got 60 fps for most games at 1440p. The XT, in particular, averages 50ish fps at 4K Ultra. My main reason for going with the RX 5700 is not dealing with high temps and therefore loud fans. Highly recommend looking at brands like Sapphire to reduce fan noise even at a premium because it is 100% worth the extra cost.

Alternative options include waiting for this year's GPUs to come out and buying one of them, supposedly cheaper and better than current offerings. You could also buy a 2080 Super if you really want that top end quality for much less than a Ti.

Finally, ask yourself the most important question. Do you need an upgrade or do you only kind of want it? If you're not thinking the RX 5700 XT is going to give you what you REALLY want, then maybe stick with what you have and just wait it out until either you NEED to upgrade or what you really want comes out or you have the money for something better. I personally love the GPU, but I may also upgrade in 2020 depending on my budget.

At the moment I don't really need one, its just my current RX 470 has struggled playing pretty much anything at 1440P. It has performed better at 1440P lately mainly because I've been overclocking it, and I got a brand new Ryzen 7 3700X. 1080P is obsolete the way I see it so that's my main motivation for upgrading. I'm leaning more towards waiting it out to see of AMD will announce something more worth my money.
