Should I get refurbished or new graphics card

I've been looking at graphics cards and I wanted the AMD R9 290x, but it's to expensive. I found a refurbished one on newegg.com, but my friends told me that they're not reliable and a warranty wouldn't help.

So I found a AMD R9 280x, but it's less powerful and older. Which one should I buy?

I recommend buying new cards, its just a good habit to form.
On top of that, I would not recommend getting the reference cooler on the 290x anyway.

If you find a really good deal then it might be worth it. For some peace of mind you still have a 30 day refund or replacement with newegg and 90 days limited warranty. With a new item you would get a 3 year manufacturer limited warranty, no 30 day refund but a 30 day replacement with newegg.

But like Gam3r said, the refurbished AMD 290x you linked to has a reference cooler, which run noisy and hot.

I see that you could get a custom cooled 290x for even less so if you want the 290x I'd go with that at $285 after a $30 rebate.

A 290x compared to the 280x will give you about 33% more fps in games. Just be mindful of your PSU requirements with either cards.

No for a graphics card I would say get new..for monitor or something then u can do refurbished 😛
