Question Should I go for an RX 6750 XT or an RTX 4060, considering the RTX 4060 is slightly cheaper in my area, but comes with 4 GB less VRAM ?

Hi,

I am building a new PC.

I have shortlisted two graphic cards, and they are as follows:

  1. The Sapphire Pulse RX 6750 XT with 12 GB VRAM. This is the link: https://www.amazon.in/Sapphire-Pulse-Radeon-Graphic-RDNATM/dp/B09YRZ86VL/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2XJYQWEW115SS&keywords=rx+6750+xt&qid=1689407692&s=computers&sprefix=rx+6750+xt,computers,295&sr=1-1
    It costs around 470 USD
  2. The Inno3D RTX 4060 Twin x2 OC with 8GB VRAM: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0C8YKXK6R...B3SO4A5P&psc=0&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
    It costs around 400 USD
I do not just play games, but I am also into content creation, like rendering 4K videos for my clients and using Adobe After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, etc.

So, out of the two graphic cards above, which one should I prefer to buy?

My monitor is FreeSync compatible, so suppose I buy the RTX 4060, then will it support FreeSync?

Thanks in advance!

No. The software won't benefit from the extra VRAM. But they will work better with AV1 encoding, CUDA cores and ray tracing offered by Nvidia.
However, on social media, many users complain that 8 GB is too less (in gaming) for future proofing for at least 3 years from now. Is that true?

the 8gb complaints are based on checking every single possible box at all times for the game. 8gb may not be enough for that down the line. if you can handle not checking every box, then 8gb is ample and will be in the future.

if you suffer from FOMO and lose sleep over an unchecked box, then go for the extra vram. personally i prefer the 6750xt but that's just cause i refuse to support the massive price gouging nvidia is employing.

Thank you so much. I think I will settle with an RX 6750 XT. I am OK in sacrificing a bit of performance in content creation, but I think only 8 GB VRAM won't be sufficient for high-end gaming. The 4 GB extra seems to add a lot of value to that.

AMD and Nvidia use vram differently.
It is not quite apples to apples.
The cards are generally comparable, and you probably would be hard pressed to detect any difference in actual use without a synthetic benchmark.

Stick with what you know.
If you are now using nvidia, stick with nvidia.
Or if you are an amd user, stick with amd.

I can only speak for myself but I have a 6950 XT and I wish I bought an RTX 3080 instead, DLSS is miles ahead of the early generations of FSR. A lot of the cool AI stuff (language models, image generation) you can play around with only works on NVIDIA cards too.

You answered your own question. Radeons are for gamers and GeForces are for content creators. You technically can use Radeons for content creation but most pro software that utilises graphics hardware is made for the market-leader, nVidia. If you're using the card to make money, you have to be willing to shell out for it. It's just that simple.

IMO its embarrassing that NVIDIA is even still pushing cards out with 8gb of ram. they are doing them to make you have to upgrade faster.
