You will definitely benefit from the R1700 for rendering and video editing, especially since most 3d programs like Cinema 4D, Blender etc are very CPU demanding the extra cores will be a joy to have. I just pulled the trigger on a R1700 and Asus Crossahir VI Hero, few more days it'll be here. Also in regards to video editing take into account a decent graphics card like an RX480 (or soon to be released RX580) or Nvidia 1060 6gb or even a 1070. Really depends on if you want to edit 4k or 1080P. Programs like premiere utilize cuda cores or opencl that will help with rendering, encoding and exporting. For gaming you should be fine if you are playing 1080p but again that's really based on your graphics card as well.
