I was thinking about getting an amd Ryzen 5 1600 and I’m wondering whether it’s absolutely necessary to overclock it. I don’t like overclocking but is it essential?

Solution
Of course not. The entire concept is making the product exceed the manufacturer's listed specifications.

If you want to overclock though, it is very simple these days. Simply getting some fast memory and setting up an XMP or DOCP profile is technically overclocking, but it is only a few clicks.

Yea ram overclocking, is the only overclocking, by that method, that I would consider mandatory. Ryzen needs fast ram, and fast ram kits will typically run at a slower speed, ie 2133, by default, until you set XMP/DOCP, in the bios.
