I just bought a computer from someone that is about 4-5 years old.
Cleaned out all the dust ( a lot of it).
I was wondering if I should reapply the therminal paste?
I am planning to overclock the cpu (its a i5 2500k)
Temps on idle were bout 30-35 and 60 on load non overclocked.
I am planning to overclock the cpu to 4.5ghz.
Would it really be necessary to reapply it? I would have to buy new paste again.

Solution
Every time I clean a PC that hasn't been cleaned for more than 3 years, I almost always reapply new thermal paste, since there would also be a lot of dust built up in the heatsink that should be removed to cleaning. It will greatly help to make the PC run better with cooler components and longer life!

Cooler is a hyper 212 plus, i think i should normally be fine with that?

That is a decent cooler, you might not be able to push the CPU to the extreme with it but it will do it's job.

If I were in your situation I would definitely apply quality thermal paste, especially considering that you plan to overclock. The 212 plus is an adequate cooler but I don't think it will allow you to reach your desired overclock.
