Question Should I swap my RX 6800 Phantom for a 325 USD Used RX 6900 XT (Fb Marketplace)?

Hey all!

I'm thinking about maybe upgrading my GPU and could really use some input. Here's my current build:
  • GPU: ASRock RX 6800 Phantom Gaming (bought for $400 CAD / $290 USD on FB Marketplace a year ago)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 (PBO enabled for ~20% uplift over stock)
  • Cooler: Thermaltake Dual Tower 120 (air)
  • Motherboard: MSI PRO B650M-A WiFi
  • RAM: XPG Lancer Blade 32GB DDR5 6400MHz CL32 (Hynix A-die, EXPO enabled)
  • SSD: 2TB WD_BLACK SN770 NVMe
  • Case: Thermaltake Versa H18
  • Fans: 3x 140mm intake (front), stock 120mm exhaust (rear)
  • PSU: EVGA 1000 GQ 80+ Gold (10 years old, rated Tier B from a list I found online)
  • Display: LG C1 48" OLED — can do 4K, but tops out at 120Hz. I sit about 12 feet away when gaming. So visual uplift to 4k might be subtle? I dunno...
I mostly game at 1440p with FSR 3.1 and get between 70 to 119 FPS depending on the title. The 6800 handles things decently, but I have the chance to buy a 6900 XT (reference model) for $450 CAD / $325 USD — also through FB Marketplace. If I go for it, I’d be selling the 6800 for the same price I paid, $400 CAD / $290 USD, also on Marketplace.

To get the 6900 XT, I'd have to spend about 4 hours total. This includes benchmarking it at the seller’s place and then doing the same for my current card before selling it. Time isn't a dealbreaker, but it’s definitely a factor.

What I’d be gaining:
  • About 20% uplift in FPS (21-22% according to youtube benchmark videos but I subtracted 1-2% since my current Asrock phantom RX 6800 is slightly better than reference model)
  • Would let me run most of my games in 4K with FSR 3.1, instead of 1440p
  • Slight visual gain on my LG C1 at 48” from 12 feet away? (or maybe subtle gain? I'm asking myself the question).
What I’d be giving up:
  • The Phantom cooler is quieter and runs ~10°C cooler than the reference 6900 XT. The 6900 XT would be about 30% louder to my ears in the same case
  • FSR 4.0 isn't supported by either card — both top out at FSR 3.1 (only AMD 9000 series supports FSR 4)
  • Slight bump in power draw, but not a huge deal — maybe an extra $3–5 CAD / $2–4 USD per year on the electricity bill
Aesthetics don’t matter to me at all. And resale-wise, the 6900 XT is actually going for more than $450 CAD / $325 USD on FB Marketplace, so I’m not likely to lose money even if I flip it later.

So the question is — should I make the swap, or just stick with the 6800 Phantom?

Thank you so much, you guys are the best!!

Fwi my games list: (I plan to "buy" 😉 gow2, horizon forbidden west, SF6, ghost of yotai, mgs delta, maybe gta 6 in the future)

Honestly, its not much of an upgrade, I would save up for a bigger jump. That said, you could try your hand at tweaking your RX 6800, you may be able to get another 10% or so out of it.
